Lightning Wines & Kieran Robinson Wines at Suite D

grapes2

Rarely do you meet makers as passionate about their craft as Randy Hester and Kieran Robinson.

Having studied under legends of the wine world, Hester made his independent debut in 2008 with the launch of Lightning Wines.  Sourcing selectively from vineyards in Northern California, Randy’s Rhone-inspired wines are made from the heart and a natural fit to pair alongside a summertime feast a la the girl & the fig!

Of his process, Randy writes “We are committed to minimal intervention […] We only buy fruit from what we consider to be the best sources, and honestly, we just try not to mess it up.”

Kieran Robinson’s winemaking experience spans the globe from Philly to the Rhone.  After relocating to Napa Valley and honing his skills at Cakebread Cellars, and later Jericho Canyon, Kieran was ready to launch Kieran Robinson Wines with the 2009 harvest.

Kieran’s wines have been described as “drop-dead gorgeous” & “super expressive,” but we think tasting is believing!

Join us and these talented young winemakers for a feast of summer’s abundance on July 22nd at Suite D.

Sam Coturri of Winery Sixteen600 – May 5th

Winery Sixteen 600 was founded by father-son team Sam Coturri and Phil Coturri. They have always had a desire to “to create a direct connection from the vineyard to the wine glass…distinct, terroir-driven, single-vineyard wines [that] epitomize the relationship between the farmer and the wine he produces.”

Dane-Cellars-9

Bart Hansen of Dane Cellars – May 12th

Bart Hansen’s passion for wine making was discovered by accident. He first started by just driving truckloads of grapes down a mountainside, and has since then he has been a Cellar Master at various locations, and in 2007 founded Dane Cellars (named for his son born that same year). For his winemaking process, he tries to do as little as possible. He says that they, “try to let the vineyards speak for themselves.” The results are absolutely amazing award-winning wines.

Kieran Robinson, Kieran Robinson Wines – May 19th

Kieran Robinson originally started his wine journey in New York while he was attending college. He worked at small production wineries and then got the opportunity to work for Domaine Pierre Gaillard in France and gained appreciation for the French winemaking philosophies. After working in France, he and his wife Kristie moved back to Napa Valley and eventually worked with other winemakers to launch Kieran Robinson Wines in 2009.

Michael Muscardini, Muscardini Cellars – May 26th

Winemaker Michael Muscardini originally owned and managed a successful construction company, but after 27 years he chose to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps and go into the wine business. He started by planting their first vines in 2000, and by 2002 they were ready to harvest. Michael took classes at Sonoma State and UC Davis to expand on his wine knowledge and after his self-education, proceeded to win numerous awards such as two Best of Class and two Best of Show for his Sangiovese!

Mark your calendars for Thursday evenings through the month of May to join us at the fig cafe!!

Kivelstadt Cellars PopUP at Suite D

Founder and head winemaker of Kivelstadt Cellars, Jordan Kivelstadt’s passion for food and wine is evident in all he creates; “wines of intrigue” as he calls them, that both challenge the status-quo of conventional winemaking while paying homage to the tradition and artistry of old world blends.

Kivelstadt’s inaugural offering in 2010 was an Estate Syrah from their organically farmed vineyard in Sonoma.  Since then, they’ve expanded to source from exceptional vineyards throughout California –ranging from newer appellations in the Sierra Nevada foothills to gnarly Alexander Valley vines planted in the 1870s.
